In short, you need to make sure the hoverboard you buy is UL2272 certified. The reason why is if you didn’t know when they got released around 2015 there were reports of some of them catching fire. This was was due to the Li-ion battery with its high-density heating up too much and eventually catching fire.

Since that whole episode back in 2015, there is now a standard UL 2272 in regards to hoverboards which they must comply buy before they go on sale. Therefore we recommend if you are thinking of buying one use the ones listed below which are UL2272 certified and are safe from imploding.
