This has WON our editor’s choice because it is the best hybrid bike under $1000 for commuting ticking a lot of boxes in terms of your needs we will explain why. It can save you a lot of money being a commuter bike saving you on transport costs. Just to note we had the pleasure of testing this bike out personally, and we were very surprised.
The Tommaso Brand is one of our favorites it is an employee-owned company and run by some really down-to-earth people who genuinely love cycling, they use genuine Shimano parts and can sell the bike so cheap because they only sell online which allows them to save a lot on costs.
The bike arrived nearly completely assembled. If you are assembling yourself (I am very familiar with setting bikes up so I did this myself ) you just have to turn the front fork around, install the front wheel (quick release, very easy ), handlebar, and seat, then pump the tires up and you are done.
Once assembled, I took it out for a spin. It needed a small number of alterations to the shifter/brake placement on the handlebars, and it was as good as gold.
The gears shifted soundly, brakes were attuned beautifully. This thing was a real pleasure to ride! There were a few nice extra little touches that I really liked.
The bike has mounts for two water bottles and pre-drilled holes for racks and fenders. It also came with a FREE small tube of black touch-up paint, perfect if you want to touch anything up.
