4. Nanrobot D5+ – Fastest Electric Scooter in the World
[easyazon_image align=”left” height=”500″ identifier=”B07GRWZ3WV” locale=”US” src=”https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41DovqFp40L.jpg” tag=”activexsports-20″ width=”500″]This scooter was added to the list as this is the fastest electric scooter in the world. Extensive research was done to find this and surprisingly, some blogs say the fastest scooter is the Q1 hummer but that only goes up to 35mph…. The speeds this can reach is 43mph! This scooter is no joke we advise you to wear full protection gear when riding hits as if you fall of you will need full protection to prevent injury. Also I had the pleasure to actually test this scooter out personally
Braking system
The braking system is unbelievable. They named it the “EBS” (electric braking system). We have to say it does take some getting used to and I make sure to tell anyone who wants to have a go on the scooter to “watch out for the brakes” As they can literally feel like they will throw you over the handlebars (but they won’t).
As expected with a scooter that can go up to 40mph you need top class brakes and this is what the D5+ has.
There is a setting that enables you to have 3 different choices of braking power. (I left it on the default setting of 2, It took quite a while to get used to it we have to say.
With 10 inch anti slip Pnuematic tiress the scooter rode on the different changing terrains very well which is a vital part of an E-Scooter.
Different modes
The 2 x 1000 watt motors provided gave me all the control, power and speed I’ll ever need to use. I tested the D5+ in a hilly area where some of the roads have steep 25° inclines.
This was with riding mostly with speed mode 2 which went up to 22 mph. And I kept the DUAL on all the time. The “DUAL” function basically means that both motors are used all the time, so a 2000 watt output!
[easyazon_image align=”right” height=”350″ identifier=”B07TFH28FF” locale=”US” src=”https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41hdYlxO2tL.jpg” tag=”activexsports-20″ width=”350″]However, there were times on the steep hills I switched to TURBO but for the majority of the rides the D5+ maintained 22 mph.
I found the build quality and finish quite nice looking and it got a few compliments from people. There is some play room with the steering column as it moves a bit however, I think it might be as a result of the folding mechanism (majority of all foldables have this).
Seat and other features
Lasty the seat, this electric scooter comes with a handy seat I found I had to put a wood plug in the seat post just to keep the seat from sometimes slipping down (maybe because I am a big guy).
Moreover I like the fact that the NanRobot had 1 inch spring of travel movement, so when you sit down and your ride over something bumpy it eases the impact.
The Throttle and Controller are great functions but it is a shame that the instruction manual does not go into enough detail on how to use it.
I managed to find a manual for the Dualtron II on You Tube feel free to check this and other similar videos . It does good job as that scooter uses the same controller 🙂
Also not noted anywhere the D5+ has a cut-off of 43V in order to safeguard the battery. But there is no notice when you’re getting close to cut-off point.
The scooter just stops. I recharged the scooter when it got to around 2 bars of battery left. The advertised range is 10 hours but that is only on mostly flat surfaces, depending on your terrain and what mode you use it will vary. But I think and average of 7 hours is fair to say.
I personally think the D5+ is a good alternative to an e-bike. It does the same things as an electric bike and at half the cost.
Pros
Fastest electric scooter in the world with speeds up to 43mph!
11inch anti slip Pnuematic tires to handle any weather condition
Portable quick folding design
Cons
Very expensive hence can be targeted by thieves
Essential Tips to think about when buying an Electric Scooter for adults
In short, the choice of electric scooter is down to what you will use it for. So think about why you want to buy one and what you need the scooter for. Is it for work or just for fun? How will you take it around with you? Do you want to take on public transport, how will it be stored at work? How long can you go on one charge and how long do you have before it needs to charged it again? There are endless questions. But fear not this guide contains everything you need to know to help answer all of your questions.
Driving style and comfort
The comfort depends largely on the way you ride the scooter. The least comfortable, but the most suitable are the electric kick scooters. These are your standard scooters in which both feet are positioned on the deck of the scooter. These are excellent scooters for commuting if you don’t want to invest in an electric scooter. If you are looking for a little more comfort and functionality, a scooter with a seat may be perfect for you. These are available in many variants, from scooters with very simple seats to the more fun and convenient electric scooters.
It is also important to note the maximum weight that the scooter can withstand. Most scooters can take over 200lbs and some electric scooters can hold 300lbs or more. Keep in mind that more weight usually means more money.
Performance
There are a number of things to consider when thinking about the performance of a motorized scooter. We think the most important statistics to consider are speed, battery life and re charge time.
The maximum speed of your scooter depends on what you want to use. If you are looking for fun, the scooter with the highest speed is probably good for you. Similarly, if you are looking for a scooter to travel every day, maximum speed will be important, but this should not be a priority rather focus on battery life as you will want the scooter to last all day long. Electric scooters can usually reach a speed of 15 to 20 miles per hour, and some get much more, so this will get you to your destination much faster then cycling or with a kick scooter
The range of scooters is important for what you want to use for. This can also vary considerably, not just between brands and models, but their environment and temperature play a very important role. For example, if you live in a cold mountainous area, you probably will not get the range which the scooter was advertised for, as you may be travelling up hills which can slow you down.
Also the range of scooters and the charging time is extremely important to consider. Some scooters can take up to 10 hours to fully charge, which can be extremely annoying (Personal experience). Others may charge in just 1.5 hours, which is much better, when you are commuting and say need to charge this in your office or place of work.
Portability
If you are looking to use your scooter for work, portability will be very important. Some electric scooters can be easily folded and stored. Some even have storage bags and original ways to carry your scooter when you’re not using them, like the handles.
The weight and size of the scooter will also play an important role in thinking about portability. You want it to be as light as possible when you think about it using public transport or you need to transport it with the stairs.
